1983

AAROH founded by two affected parents, Late Air Vice Marshal S C Gupta and Mrs. Asha Gupta. Its first pilot project - Navjyoti School, was set up in the rear garden of the founder's house with just four students. It was a pioneering concept at the time.

1987

AAROH was given recognition by the government and startedreceiving grant-in-aid from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

1994

Commenced construction of Navjyoti Institute at Vasant Kunj on a plot allotted by DDA in recognition of our efforts.

19th November 2000

Inauguration of AAROH's newly constructed building and campus by Mr. B. K. Jayswal of the Bellini Foundation, USA in the presence of eminent personalities.

2003

Chief Minister of Delhi, Mrs Sheila Dikshit, visited Navjyoti Institute in Vasant Kunj to grace the Annual Day Function.

August 2004

Sad demise of AVM SC Gupta, founder and secretary.

2009

AAROH Silver Jubilee. The Silver Jubilee functions were marked with the organization of a National Conference based on the theme: "Transforming lives of Persons with Disabilities through Recreational & Leisure Activities" at India International Centre, New Delhi on 20th & 21st March. The conference attracted the best professionals from the disabilities field, who shared their views in front of an audience consisting of professionals, parents and government body representatives.

It was a benchmark event with a panel discussion with all relevant stakeholders such as Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), National Trust, National Institute for Mentally Challenged, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MSJ&E), culminating in the presentation of a draft recommendations in accordance with UNCRPD declaration, to which India is a signatory.

The conference was accompanied by an Inter-school Adventure Camp at the IGHH, Damdama Lake. Many prestigious institutions & special schools took part in the national conference & the adventure camp.

2010

Sad demise of Mrs. Satya Mehra, Chairperson Navjyoti School Management Committee.

2015

Sad demise of our President, Air Chief Marshal O.P. Mehra, PVSM (Retd.). Mr Naveen Behl takes over as President - AAROH.

2017

Launch of the AAROH Teacher Training Institute, post RCI approval to start a 2-year diploma course (D. Ed. Special Ed.- MR) to train special education teachers. A significant milestone as very few institutes receive this accreditation.
